Softball Recap: Aquinas Takes a Loss

Aquinas lost against Fort Calhoun back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Monarchs came up short against the Pioneers, falling 9-3.

Aquinas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brookelynn Banholzer, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Ainsley Wollmer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Aquinas has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Fort Calhoun, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Aquinas didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Cass on the 13th. As for Fort Calhoun, they will square off against Mercy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
