Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 4-15. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Palo Alto Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Wednesday.

As for Palo Alto, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Palo Alto's part, Carter Bader was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Bader has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Dylan Robinson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will face off against Los Gatos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Palo Alto, they will take on Burlingame at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.6, the Panthers 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
