Baseball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Beats Calumet Christian for Their Fifth Straight Win

Thornton Fractional South waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Calumet Christian Patriots. That's more bragging rights for the Red Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chris Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Evans, Jr., who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Eric Talbert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Thornton Fractional South's record now sits at 9-17-1. As for Calumet Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Thornton Fractional South will head out on the road to square off against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Calumet Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Bend Riley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
