Basketball Recap: Heritage Patriots vs. San Jacinto Tigers
The Heritage Patriots pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Jacinto. Heritage was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Sierra Maxwell, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.1% of Heritage's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reg'inae Hardin, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
San Jacinto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luv'lee Sadler led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Sadler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miyah Stevenson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Heritage and nudges their season record down to 16-11. As for San Jacinto, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-8.
Heritage will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Verde is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for San Jacinto, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bison at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
