Basketball Game Preview: Southwest EC Eagles vs. Central Spartans

Southwest EC hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Southwest EC Eagles just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Central Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Neither Southwest EC nor Central posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Southwest EC is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 37-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holtville.

Meanwhile, Central played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-15 loss at the hands of Imperial. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-6.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Janelle Thomas, Elyza Estrada, and Rhyanna Velasco-Martinez posted three points each. Thomas also led the team in rebounds with ten.

This is the second loss in a row for Central and nudges their season record down to 12-11. As for Southwest EC, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Southwest EC was dealt a bruising 67-15 loss at the hands of Central in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southwest EC was down 44-7.
