Basketball Recap: Southwest SD Skates Past Monte Vista with Ease

While Southwest SD didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Monte Vista Monarchs, posting a 45-15 victory. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 30 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Jazlyn Martinez, who posted 19 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Ziara Rosa, who had ten points.

The win (which was Southwest SD's third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Southwest SD will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mira Mesa at 3:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Monte Vista, they will face off against Sweetwater at 11:00 a.m. on December 31st. Monte Vista is facing Sweetwater at the right time seeing as Sweetwater is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
