Softball Recap: Nimitz Has No Trouble Against Benjamin Davis

Nimitz won the last time they faced Benjamin Davis and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars blew past the Falcons 17-9. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Nimitz got a massive performance out of Sophia Ruiz, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Ruiz a new career-high. Makenzie White was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Nimitz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benjamin Davis only posted an OBP of .448.

The win made it two in a row for Nimitz and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Benjamin Davis, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Nimitz is taking a road trip to challenge Eisenhower at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.35 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Benjamin Davis, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on MacArthur at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
