Baseball Recap: Newark Gets the Win

While Newark's win against Earlville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Norsemen skirted past the Red Raiders 2-1. The Norsemen haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Eastin Mcbroom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 17 Ks. He has become a key player for Newark: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Newark saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Shields, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Newark's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Earlville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Coincidentally, Newark and Earlville will both be playing Indian Creek the next time they take the field. The Norsemen will head out to face the Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Red Raiders will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
