Basketball Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss

Montclair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 42-24 bruising from the Diamond Ranch Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1013th, while the Panthers are ranked 276th).

Leading Diamond Ranch to victory were Jazlyn Wint and Jordyn Seales. Wint posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Seales earned nine points along with six steals and five boards. Seales has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanda Uyeda, who had six points.

Montclair's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Diamond Ranch, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Montclair has already played their next contest (against Chaffey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Diamond Ranch will head out on the road to square off against Chino at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Chino has won three straight at home, while Diamond Ranch won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
