Softball Recap: Benson Comes Up Short

Benson came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-6 to the Omaha South Packers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Packers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 back in August.

Jhelen Suarez Ramirez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Marissa Schumacher was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Benson's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Omaha South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Benson will square off against Bellevue West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bunnies are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Omaha South has already played their next matchup (against Westview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
