Baseball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

Elgin had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 10-13 to make it four. They lost 7-0 to the Mt. Gilead Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 on May 2nd.

As for Mt. Gilead, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Mt. Gilead's part, the team relied heavily on Hayden Somerlot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Somerlot has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brogan Pfleiderer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Elgin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Gilead, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-4 victory against Fairbanks on the 19th.
