Recap: Weatherly vs. Marian Catholic
Weatherly struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Thursday (Marian Catholic were 31% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Weatherly took a serious blow against Marian Catholic, falling 54-9. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Weatherly in their matchups with Marian Catholic: they've now lost seven in a row.
Brianna Pugh was Weatherly's leading scorer, having posted three points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marian Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Frankie Martinelli, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Martinelli continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliya Tikhtova, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Weatherly's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Marian Catholic, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-2.
Weatherly will be playing at home against Bethlehem Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marian Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Holy Redeemer at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Holy Redeemer is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
