Basketball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were outmatched by the Fairfield Falcons and fell 72-11. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1163rd, while the Falcons are ranked 402nd).

Natalie Chavez went supernova for Fairfield, going 8 for 11 on her way to 23 points and six boards. Chavez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Ariana Hebert was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Johnson moved to 5-13 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Fairfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Johnson will host Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnson is facing Valley at the right time seeing as Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Fairfield has already played their next matchup (against Foothill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
