The St. Joseph's Academy Angels will take on the Westminster Christian Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Joseph's Academy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Ursuline Academy on Tuesday. The Angels were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Bears. With that win, the Angels brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
St. Joseph's Academy got a massive performance out of Henley Backsmeyer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was Backsmeyer's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sara Munaco, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Joseph's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian entered their tilt with St. Charles on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 15-0 shutout.
Jaymison Lenk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Dolley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Bell, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Westminster Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for St. Joseph's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
