Basketball Recap: Maria Venegas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Del Oro over Foothill

Del Oro lost against Foothill back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Del Oro Suns took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Foothill Trojans. The Suns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Suns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maria Venegas, who posted eight points. Kera Hayden was another key player, putting up seven points.

Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Fierro, who earned eight points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayda Green, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Del Oro's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Foothill, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.

Del Oro will be playing at home against Mira Monte at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Oro is facing Mira Monte at the right time seeing as Mira Monte is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Foothill has already played their next contest (against North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
