Softball Recap: Denver East Comes Up Short

If Denver East was riding high fresh off their 17-5 takedown of Rangeview on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Angels lost 14-4 to the Denver North Vikings on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Angels in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.

Denver East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kathrine Zirlin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Zellie Frye, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Denver East's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Denver North, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver East will square off against Denver South at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Denver North, they will take on Arvada at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 14.8 runs per game this season.
