Football Recap: Jamel Perry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Knightdale over Wake Forest + How To Watch

If Knightdale was riding high fresh off their 43-0 takedown of Vance County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights lost 48-24 to the Wake Forest Cougars on Friday. The Knights have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Knightdale's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamel Perry, who threw for 334 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 31 yards. The Knights are 2-1 when Perry posts 300 or more passing yards, but 0-5 otherwise. Le'Eric Cooper was in the mix as well, providing Knightdale with two touchdowns.

Micah Olu was his usual excellent self, rushing for 233 yards and five scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 73 receiving yards and one TD for Wake Forest. Those 233 rushing yards gave Olu a new career-high. Landen Perry also helped out as he racked up 120 rushing yards.

Knightdale's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Wake Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Knightdale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 32-23 loss against Heritage on the 24th. As for Wake Forest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 23-7 win against Franklinton on the 24th.
