Football Recap: Knightdale Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Vance County last Friday, Knightdale came back down to earth. The Knights came up short against the Wake Forest Cougars on Friday, falling 48-24. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Knightdale lost, don't look at Jamel Perry. Despite the final result, he threw for 336 yards and three TDs. Perry has become a key player for the Knights: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 300 passing yards, but 0-5 otherwise. A healthy portion of Perry's aerial production (97 yards to be exact) went to Jaylen Knight, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Micah Olu was his usual excellent self, rushing for 233 yards and five scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 73 receiving yards and one touchdown for Wake Forest. Those 233 rushing yards gave Olu a new career-high. Landen Perry also helped out as he racked up 120 rushing yards.

Knightdale's record now sits at 2-6. As for Wake Forest, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Knightdale will head out to challenge Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Huskies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wake Forest, they are taking a road trip to face off against Franklinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Rams' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
