Football Recap: Adams Cougars vs. Turner Lions
Adams made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Turner, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 30-28 on Thursday. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Defeat or not, Adams got some senior leadership from Dimera Smith and Greg Nash Jr. Smith threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt, while Nash Jr picked up 213 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Nash Jr really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 84 yards. A healthy portion of Smith's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) also went to Lowell Powell-Cumby.
Turner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Martinez out in front who rushed for 83 yards and one TD on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards Martinez has posted since back in September of 2024.
Adams' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Turner, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Coincidentally, Adams and Turner will both be playing West Mesquite the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Wranglers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
