Basketball Recap: Foothill Snaps 12-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Foothill's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over the Valley Vikings. That looming 39-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Foothill can attribute much of their success to Joyce Runner, who posted 12 points.

Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Ximena Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Ramirez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. India Williams was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Foothill's win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-22. As for Valley, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-16.

Foothill and Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Foothill will take on West Campus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday down 969 places (1233 vs. 264). Similarly, Valley (ranked 1279th) will meet Fairfield (ranked 416th) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
