Softball Recap: Jackson County Gets the Win

Jackson County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Hart County on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Emery Schiffmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schiffmann was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh O'Brien, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Miabella Lee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Jackson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart County only posted a batting average of .167.

Jackson County's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Jackson County will venture away from home to challenge North Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hart County, they will face off against Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
