Basketball Game Preview: Hampton Talbots vs. Blackhawk Cougars

Hampton is 0-3 against Blackhawk since January of 2025 but things could change on Monday. The Talbots are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hampton comes in on three and Blackhawk on 18.

On Wednesday, Hampton didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lincoln Park Performing Arts, but they still walked away with a 42-36 victory.

Meanwhile, Blackhawk made easy work of Lincoln Park Performing Arts on Thursday and carried off a 67-45 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Hampton better keep an eye on Aubree Hupp. She was instrumental in Blackhawk's win, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hupp has scored at least a third of the Cougars' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracen Sehn, who posted seven points and 16 boards.

Blackhawk smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Hampton's record is now 8-5. As for Blackhawk, their record now sits at 18-0.

Hampton was dealt a bruising 51-19 defeat at the hands of Blackhawk when the teams last played on January 8th. Can the Talbots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
