Basketball Recap: Desert Skates Past Mammoth with Ease

Desert won the last time they faced Mammoth and things went their way on Friday too. The Desert Scorpions blew past the Mammoth Huskies, posting a 55-16 win. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Desert was led to victory by Kalista Williams and Keira Gamboa. Williams dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while Gamboa almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine steals. That's the most steals Gamboa has posted since back in December of 2024. Ariane Morelos was another key player, putting up six points.

Desert is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Mammoth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert will face off against Rosamond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Rosamond has won five straight at home, while Desert won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Mammoth, they will challenge Frazier Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mammoth is facing Frazier Mountain at the right time seeing as Frazier Mountain is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
