Baseball Recap: Mt. Zion's Win Ends 16-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Mt. Zion won the last time they faced Cedar Grove and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Saints 13-3. Considering the Bulldogs have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Corey Johns was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Mt. Zion: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Hurt, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2.

Mt. Zion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Mt. Zion's win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Cedar Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Mt. Zion has already played their next matchup, a 10-4 loss against Riverdale on the 26th. As for Cedar Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Stephenson on the 26th.
