Football Recap: Northwest Rankin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Northwest Rankin was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 24-14 victory over the Wayne County War Eagles. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the War Eagles are ranked 120th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jermany Hayden had a dynamite game, rushing for 272 yards and two scores while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Hayden is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 136 every time he's taken the field this season. Northwest Rankin also got help from De'Shawn Dillon, who showed off his sure hands for 107 receiving yards.

Northwest Rankin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Patrick Harper and Xavier Dotson. Reuben Bilbrew was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 19 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Northwest Rankin's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Wayne County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Northwest Rankin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-24 defeat against Madison Central on the 19th. As for Wayne County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-21 loss against George County on the 19th.
