McGregor is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the C.H. Yoe Yoemen will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. McGregor is looking for their season's first victory.
McGregor is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Fairfield last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs were dealt a 61-14 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-14.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Bubba Zacharias and Kohl Collins. Collins had a great game and threw for 402 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes. Meanwhile, Zacharias was balling out in the loss, throwing for 195 yards and one TD, while also rushing for 46 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask C.H. Yoe). They walked away with a 42-32 win over Mexia last Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Yoemen considering their 13-point performance the game before.
C.H. Yoe's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for McGregor, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
McGregor was taken down by C.H. Yoe 55-27 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Tim Grice (who picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 91 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
