Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Beckman Patriots

The Capistrano Valley Cougars will square off against the Beckman Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Capistrano Valley has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Beckman will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Capistrano Valley took a blow against Tesoro, falling 58-15. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1210th, while the Titans are ranked 402nd).

Meanwhile, everything went Beckman's way against Anaheim on Wednesday as Beckman made off with a 66-40 victory. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 24 points or more this season.

Beckman pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Capistrano Valley was taken down by Beckman 52-17 in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Capistrano Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
