Basketball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles

The Lyons Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Dayspring Christian Academy likes a good challenge.

Lyons will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Belleview Christian, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Lyons simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Belleview Christian 77-35. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Caleb Christiansen was his usual excellent self, going 13 of 19 on his way to 30 points and eight steals. His evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Payton Bolkovatz was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Lyons was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 21 assists in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Dayspring Christian Academy played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Denver Christian, falling 70-45. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.

Lyons has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.7 points. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Lyons strolled past Dayspring Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 65-49. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dayspring Christian Academy's Owen Mcclanahan, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lyons still be able to contain Mcclanahan? There's only one way to find out.
