Preview: Downey Knights vs. Enochs Eagles
Downey is on a nine-game streak of home losses, Enochs a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Downey Knights will take on the Enochs Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enochs took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Downey, who comes in off a win.
Downey posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 53-24 win over Modesto. The victory was just what Downey needed coming off of a 51-28 defeat in their prior contest.
Downey's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joslyn Sheppard led the charge by scoring six points along with nine steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Nathalia Soto,, who scored 11 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Enochs suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 67-46 loss to Pitman might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Enochs has suffered against Pitman since May 5, 2021.
Downey's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14. As for Enochs, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Downey came up short against Enochs in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 47-39. Can Downey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
