Basketball Recap: Costa Mesa Takes a Loss

After soaring to 61 points the game before, Costa Mesa was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by the Savanna Rebels and fell 61-19. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Costa Mesa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaliyah Terry almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Myah Martinez was another key player, putting up three points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Costa Mesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Costa Mesa moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Savanna, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
