Recap: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Mendota Aztecs
The Dos Palos Broncos suffered their biggest defeat since November 16, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Mendota, falling 57-11. While losing is never fun, Dos Palos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1259th, while Mendota is ranked 427th).
Despite the defeat, Dos Palos saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Slimp scored eight points along with five rebounds. That was a full 72.7% of Dos Palos' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Dos Palos has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Mendota, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dos Palos will take on Coalinga at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coalinga is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Mendota, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Avenal at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
