Basketball Recap: Vanguard College Prep's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vanguard College Prep). They took down the Delta Charter Dragons 37-18 on Monday. The Lions pushed the score to 35-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Despite the defeat, Delta Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Desiree Cabral posted two points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Cabral is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasiyah Mims, who had six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Vanguard College Prep's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Delta Charter, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Vanguard College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Delta Charter, they will square off against Lodi Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 11th.
