Softball Game Preview: Blue River vs. Milford Eagles

Blue River hasn't had much luck against Milford recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Blue River will look to defend their home field against Milford at 5:30 p.m. Blue River will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Blue River got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Wahoo.

Abby Lindsley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Long was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Tayja Slonecker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Blue River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wahoo only posted a batting average of .222.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milford). They put the hurt on Fillmore Central with a sharp 12-4 win on Tuesday.

Milford's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Blue River, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Blue River beat Milford 6-3 when the teams last played on Saturday. Does Blue River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Milford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
