Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Hazen Highlanders + How To Watch

The Mercer Island Islanders will face off against the Hazen Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mercer Island will be strutting in after a victory while Hazen will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Mercer Island was able to grind out a solid win over Neah Bay, taking the game 57-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Islanders.

Anna Mock and Izzy Russell were among the main playmakers for Mercer Island as the former posted 22 points and three steals and the latter shot 46% from the field en route to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Russell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maya Rathod, who put up five points.

Meanwhile, Hazen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Inglemoor and fell 62-28.

Mercer Island's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hazen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Mercer Island was able to grind out a solid win over Hazen in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 60-48. Will the Islanders repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
