Basketball Recap: Union Mine Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cordova on Friday, Union Mine came back down to earth. The Diamondbacks received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 56-41 to the Placer Hillmen. If the Diamondbacks were looking for revenge after losing 44-27 to the Hillmen when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Defeat or not, Union Mine got some senior leadership from Adriana Cavallaro and Kyra Wooden. Cavallaro shot 43% from the field on her way to 18 points, while Wooden posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnee Jones, who earned four points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Union Mine's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Placer, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Union Mine will take on Colfax in a tournament on December 4. As for Placer, they will face off against Granite Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
