Basketball Game Preview: Santiago Sharks vs. Pioneer Titans

The Santiago Sharks will square off against the Pioneer Titans at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Pioneer took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Santiago, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Santiago was fully in charge, breezing past Norco 65-15. The Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pioneer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-41 to Cerritos. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Titans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Dons are ranked 456th).

Pioneer's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Santiago, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Santiago beat Pioneer 61-50 in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santiago since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
