With a playoff win on the line, Ventura rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Thousand Oaks Lancers with a sharp 63-40 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 22 points or more this season.

Ventura's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kailee Staniland, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Emily Rea, who went 5-for-11 en route to 18 points.

Staniland wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Ventura was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thousand Oaks only racked up five assists.

Thousand Oaks lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Raquel Daringer, who posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dori Lawrence, who scored ten points.

Ventura's record now sits at 26-3. As for Thousand Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.

Looking ahead, Ventura will take on Crean Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crean Lutheran will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ventura surely won't give up without a fight. Thousand Oaks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
