Football Recap: New Canaan Picks Up 18th Consecutive Victory

New Canaan faced Staples in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rams simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wreckers 28-0. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Henry Stein produced another solid performance rushing for 148 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

Stein was just one part of a punishing run game: New Canaan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

The victory keeps New Canaan at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.8 points over those games. As for Staples, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Canaan will face off against Trumbull at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Staples, they will take on Ludlowe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
