Baseball Game Preview: Chapel Hill Panthers vs. Jackson Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Chapel Hill Panthers duke it out with Jackson Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chapel Hill has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jaylon Allen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Chapel Hill: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Jackson entered their tilt with Forest Park on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Panthers. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly ten runs.

Tyler Dunn was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Geter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Jackson's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Chapel Hill suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Jackson when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Chapel Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
