Football Recap: Case Ashmore Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lakeside

Logan/Palco was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lakeside on Friday. Logan/Palco blew past Lakeside 38-16. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but Logan/Palco was the (much) better team in the second half.

Logan/Palco's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Case Ashmore, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Ashmore posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Carson Knipp was another key back, rushing for 91 yards and one score.

Logan/Palco's run defense was locked in: Lakeside could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Buster States for the heroic effort on defense: he. Logan/Palco's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Logan/Palco didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Taden Gottschalk.

Although Lakeside took the loss, they still got scores from Eli Schmitt and Coby Cline.

Logan/Palco now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lakeside, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Logan/Palco and Lakeside will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Logan/Palco is set to square off against their familiar foe Wheatland-Grinnell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lakeside will face off against rival Clifton-Clyde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
