Basketball Recap: Viewpoint Takes a Loss

Viewpoint dropped to 14-5 on Tuesday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They were dealt a 62-22 defeat at the hands of the Brentwood School Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Eagles are ranked 29th).

As for Brentwood School, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games.

Brentwood School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessica Liu, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 15 points. Liu is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last eight games she's played. Kelsey Sugar was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Viewpoint has already played their next contest (against St. Mary's Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Brentwood School, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Villa Park at 4:30 p.m.
