Basketball Game Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Saint Mary's Panthers

The Castro Valley Trojans will face off against the Saint Mary's Panthers at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Castro Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Castro Valley made off with a 53-52 victory over Tracy.

Meanwhile, Saint Mary's was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The matchup between them and California didn't end well, with Saint Mary's falling 59-45. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 79th).

Castro Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Saint Mary's, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Castro Valley couldn't quite finish off Saint Mary's when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 61-58. Can Castro Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
