Recap: Valley Christian Academy Lions vs. Santa Maria Saints

The Valley Christian Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Santa Maria, falling 58-19. Valley Christian Academy has not had much luck with Santa Maria recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Santa Maria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Madrigal , who scored 18 points along with five steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Hill, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Valley Christian Academy bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Santa Maria, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Valley Christian Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Shandon at 5:00 p.m. on December 12th. As for Santa Maria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lompoc at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lompoc focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
