Recap: Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders
The Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Bishop Guilfoyle 60-20. While losing is never fun, Philipsburg-Osceola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Bishop Guilfoyle is ranked 80th).
Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddy Malinich, who scored seven points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Malinich has scored all season. Lily Warlow was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Philipsburg-Osceola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Philipsburg-Osceola will head out on the road to face off against Bellwood-Antis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bellwood-Antis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday. Bishop Guilfoyle will be home for the holidays to greet Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
