Baseball Game Preview: Simeon Wolverines vs. Kennedy Crusaders

For the second straight game, Simeon will face off against Kennedy. The Wolverines will challenge the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Simeon has five straight wins, Kennedy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Simeon beat Kennedy 8-5.

Aiden Pondexter made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Antonio Porterfield was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dequan Luster, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Simeon's record now sits at 8-4. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Simeon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
