Basketball Recap: La Jolla Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

After losing to High Tech SD the last time they met, La Jolla decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The La Jolla Vikings came out on top against the High Tech SD Storm by a score of 71-61 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

La Jolla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carmen Jativa led the charge by going 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Jativa a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Soila Chadwick, who posted 12 points.

La Jolla was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Tech SD only posted six assists.

Despite the loss, High Tech SD still got an impressive performance from Poema Strong, who put up 36 points and five rebounds. The game was Strong's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Aomi Nebel was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

La Jolla's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for High Tech SD, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-12.

Coincidentally, La Jolla and High Tech SD will both be playing Academy of Our Lady of Peace the next time they take the court. La Jolla will head out to face Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while High Tech SD will head out to face them at 5:45 p.m. on February 11th.
