Football Recap: Johnson County Central Skates Past Omaha Christian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnson County Central). They blew past the Omaha Christian Guardians 56-24 on Friday. With the Thunderbirds ahead 56-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson County Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Regan Campbell Thies, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was A.J. Rautenbach, who picked up 69 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Danny Kongmanyvong, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Johnson County Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lee Xayaphonesongkham and Cooper Jones.

The win made it two in a row for Johnson County Central and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points over those games. As for Omaha Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
