1-AAAA league recap: 4/3/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Cairo, which finished with five wins overall, good for best in the league. The Syrupmakers beat Worth County 7-1, Thomasville 9-5 and Pelham 10-2.

Demetrius Reed was the hottest hitter in 1-AAAA this week, racking up a .500 average with five RBIs. Dougherty compiled a record of 1-2 in that time.

The Trojans' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 14 hits and 13 walks to lead the league in both categories.

Dougherty, the league's stolen base leader this season with 43, added to its lead in that category with 16 more steals over the past week.

The league boasted four .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Kenneth Johnson, who collected five hits in nine at bats for a .556 average.

Reed led Albany to a win on April 2, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat the Trojans, 12-8. He gave up five hits and nine runs over five innings of work.

Reed drove in four runners as Dougherty defeated Stewart County 15-0 on Thursday. He went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.
