Soccer Game Preview: East Union vs. Central Catholic

The East Union Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Central Catholic Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

East Union came up short against Sierra on Friday, falling 5-2. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 148th).

Meanwhile, Central Catholic fell victim to Oakdale and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Mustangs. The Raiders have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for East Union, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-6-2.

East Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does East Union have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
