Football Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were beaten by the Sotomayor WILDCATS 63-7. The Rams lost against the WILDCATS in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 21-7 score last time.

As for Sotomayor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 23 points in those games.

Chauncey Moon produced another solid effort rushing for 146 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 112 yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 64 yards. Sotomayor also got a significant boost from Cameron Grady, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Marshall will challenge rival Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on October 4. Meanwhile, Sotomayor is set to face off against their familiar foe Holmes at 7:00 p.m. on October 4.
